Returning to the same beach, nine years on
One of the greatest compliments I can receive as a photographer is when families come back years later and ask me to photograph them again. I first met this wonderful family nine years ago during a visit to Cape Town, and it was such a privilege to see them again on their return.
The little boy I photographed all those years ago had grown into a confident young man, and it was incredible to see how much he had changed while the love and connection between them remained exactly the same.
To make the experience even more meaningful, we headed back to the very same beach where we had photographed them nine years earlier. They wanted to recreate a few of the fun photographs we'd taken back then and compare just how much had changed over the years. Looking back at those original images alongside the new ones was such a lovely reminder of how quickly time passes and how important family photographs become.
With beautiful golden light, plenty of laughter, and a few familiar poses thrown in for good measure, we created a new collection of memories to sit alongside the ones from nearly a decade ago. Sessions like these are a wonderful reminder that photographs aren't just for today, they're for looking back on years from now and seeing just how far you've come.
